Alpha-Curcumone

Alpha-lipoic acid (thiotic acid) is a sulfur-based antioxidant that has been used in the treatment of hepatitis, HIV infection, cancer, and hypercholesterolemia. It is here combined with oil-soluble vitamins (including an oily form of vitamin C, made by combining it with palmitic acid) that aid the absorption of alpha-lipoic acid and enhance the therapeutic effects of the main ingredients. Alpha-lipoic acid with vitamin E has been suggested to be a potentially useful post-stroke therapy, partly because its antioxidant actions help the recovery of damaged neurons. Curcuma and ginseng are both used in treatment of conditions similar to those indicated for alpha-lipoic acid, which is why they were chosen for inclusion here. Curcuma helps maintain free flow of fatty materials, preventing their accumulation; it is used to treat cancer (an ingredient in the Seven Forests formula Chih-ko/Curcuma), hyperlipidemia, HIV infetion, and hepatitis (it is an important ingredient of Salvia-Ligustrum), and it is often included in formulas for cardiovascular disorders. Ginsenf is also used in treatment of those disorders, and is well known for its qi tonic properties. Compared to most commercial products with alpha-lipoic acid, this formula provides a higher dose of it and provides these unique her additions in substantial dosage.*
