The addition of blood-nourishing herbs found in Si wu tang when I heard a lecture on the Shang Han Lun. The teacher said: "It is yang and blood that protect us." This explains the need for the blood-enriching medicinals in this formula. During this pandemic much has been written about the importance of vitamin D and zinc in the healthy functioning of our immune system. This is the explanation for the presence of these substances in Cold Formula Plus. Zinc picolinate is thought to be better absorbed than other forms. As a trace mineral, we want to take the appropriate amount of zinc and not more. Zinc is also often used as part of treatment plans for prostate and liver disorders. Vitamin D, beyond its helpful effects for the immune system, is very important for bone health and proper muscle function. It is thought that many people today suffer from low vitamin D levels, making supplemental vitamin D a smart move. We simply do not spend as much time out in the sun as humans did in earlier times. Ideally, we make all the vitamin D that we need by being in the sun, but that is no longer a real possibility for most people.
