Rosa × damascena is a hybrid rose known for its exquisite fragrance. The Damascus Rose is a cultivated species, no longer found growing in the wild. Recent genetic studies indicate its origin lies in the foothills of Central Asia, where its pollen parent is believed to be native. Harvesting the flowers is labor-intensive, requiring manual collection during a period of approximately twenty to forty days each year. The roses are harvested by hand and subsequently steam distilled.
Rose essential oil strengthens the yin and promotes skin regeneration. For dry, mature skin, consider diluting it with Pomegranate seed oil to create a nourishing moisturizer.
