An elaboration of Chen Shiwen\'s Er Chen Tang, this is an effective and often used formula for phlegm heat cough; it can also be applied for chronic phlegm damp coughs. One of the additional herbs is Arisaema Dan Nan Xing, which has been coated in pig bile. Bile is quite strong in transforming and dispelling stubborn sticky phlegm, and, being cold, is also effective at clearing heat and resolving toxins.
