Warms and tonifies the qi and blood
This formula is commonly used for qi and blood deficiency with deficient qi tending toward cold.
Shi Quan Da Bu Pian is a classical Chinese herbal formula used to replenish Qi and Blood while gently warming the Yang. This well-rounded tonic supports vitality, stamina, and overall constitutional strength, especially for those with signs of cold and deficiency.
Originally recorded in the Imperial Grace Formulary of the Tai Ping Era, Shi Quan Da Bu Pian is built on the foundational formulas Ba Zhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction), Si Jun Zi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction), and Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction). It is further enhanced with Astragalus (Huang Qi) and Cinnamon bark (Rou Gui) to warm Yang and consolidate Qi.
This formula is commonly recommended for individuals experiencing:
- Chronic fatigue or low physical energy
- Pale complexion and cold sensitivity
- Weakness of limbs or lower back
- Poor appetite, spontaneous sweating, or low immunity
The formula features a harmonizing combination of Qi tonics—Dang Shen, Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, Gan Cao—with blood-nourishing herbs such as Shu Di Huang, Dang Gui, Bai Shao, and Chuan Xiong. The addition of Huang Qi and Rou Gui targets deeper Yang deficiency and improves circulation and warmth throughout the body.
This balanced formulation is suitable for long-term use in cases of recovery from illness, overwork, or cold-deficiency patterns that affect both Qi and Blood.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Formula Profile:
Shi Quan Da Bu Tang is a time-tested formula used to treat dual Qi and Blood deficiency, often accompanied by Yang deficiency. The formula warms and tonifies the Spleen, Heart, and Kidney systems, supports the generation of blood, and strengthens foundational vitality. Its structure builds on Ba Zhen Tang, with warming additions to address fatigue, a pale tongue, cold limbs, and poor circulation.
