Yin Chen Hao dispels damp heat and is among the most commonly used and most effective herbs for treating jaundice. When combined appropriately with other herbs and essential oils, it can be utilized for damp-heat or cold-damp, Yang or Yin types of jaundice originating from Liver, Gallbladder, Stomach, or Spleen.

Yin Chen Hao and Qing Hao (Artemisiae annuae) are commonly used together for jaundice.

Various types of liver damp-heat disorders may benefit from Yin Chen Hao essential oil, particularly when combined with oils of Huang Qin (Scutellaria), Chai Hu (Bupleurum), and Bai Dou Kou (Amomi rotundas).

Yin Chen can be applied topically to treat dermatological conditions caused by dampness, such as urticaria, eczema, rashes, and sores. In one clinical trial, topical application of Yin Chen Hao essential oil twice daily for four weeks was effective in treating skin and foot fungal infections.
