Zi Su Ye - Perillae Follium, 5ml

Zi Su Ye essential oil has a strong, distinctive scent that combines the sweetness of fresh leaves with the spiciness of mint. Its effects focus relief in the eyes, stimulate the scalp, spread along the front of the ears and jaw, and warm the throat down to the stomach.

Perilla, a mint family plant, grows abundantly in the hills and mountains of East Asia. Its pungent aroma reaches the Qi level, while the purple hue of its leaves indicates its influence on the blood level. Both leaves and stems are used to extract this essential oil.

Although Zi Su Ye is traditionally used to warm and release the exterior, this CO2-extracted essential oil, similar to the herb in decoction, also harmonizes the middle jiao, expands the chest, and is renowned for its ability to relieve nausea and vomiting—including morning sickness—and to calm a restless fetus. It is also recognized for its unique function in counteracting seafood poisoning.

The Ben Cao Qiu Zen describes Zi Su Ye this way, "Its aroma can vent wind outward, its warmth can warm the middle, facilitating the comfort of the whole body. Thus it is named revive (Su)."

May be blended with Mu Xiang oil to treat nausea and vomiting due to spleen and stomach Qi stagnation or morning sickness.
