Ligustici wallicii Rhizoma
Ligustici Chuanxiong, from which Chuan Xiong oil is CO2 extracted, is a plant native to China's Sichuan Province. It has a pungent and warm character, and is associated with the liver, gallbladder and pericardium meridians. Its aroma, reminiscent of celery and chive, can tingle the scalp, free the neck, and spread quickly throughout the body. Chuan Xiong’s main functions are intended to promote the flow of blood and Qi, dispel wind, and relieve pain. It is powerful, fast acting, easy to use, and very cost effective.
Common Uses
* For headaches due to Wind-Cold, Wind-Heat, Wind-Damp, Blood Stagnation and Blood Deficiency. (Often used with Jing Jie oil for headaches caused by wind, and combined with Dang Gui oil for blood stagnation or deficiency headaches).
* Often prescribed to treat irregular menstrual periods and dysmenorrhea.
* Often recommended to patients with inflammation caused by injuries, carbuncles and boils.
Major known chemical constituents:Â ligustilide >35%, sabinene (from Kaiping extractor analysis), methyls
