Wuji San
The design of Classical Pearls Earth Pearls draws inspiration from the 12th-century formula Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder), as found in the Song dynasty's official pharmacopoeia, Pharmaceutical Prescriptions of the Bureau of Public Welfare During the Taiping Era (Taiping huimin hejiju fang). This formulation takes a comprehensive approach to addressing earth organ dysfunction, particularly Spleen qi deficiency often complicated by dampness and potential Blood deficiency.
In Chinese herbal traditions, healing often centers around the earth organs, aiming to restore the Spleen's ability to ascend, move, and transform, while also supporting the Stomach's function of descending, containing, and excreting. Earth Pearls’ lifting components, especially Platycodon (the minister ingredient), make it a classic taiyin remedy, strengthening the Spleen-Lung connection. Meanwhile, its drying components, like Red Atractylodes (the imperial ingredient), help transform dampness, prevent phlegm, and expel wind.
Historically, Wuji San was the go-to remedy for the flu during the Song dynasty, due to its wind-expelling properties. It is also effective for chronic wind disturbances paired with digestive issues. Additionally, the formula’s blood tonic ingredients support Blood deficiency, which often follows prolonged qi deficiencies, such as in Spleen-deficient women with menstrual concerns.
Classical Pearls are formulated according to the principles of classical alchemy by Heiner Fruehauf, Ph.D. They contain no pharmaceuticals, preservatives, dyes, yeasts, or added sugars and are independently tested for purity, identity, and the concentration of active ingredients during procurement, manufacturing, and importing. Their formulas use directly-sourced, wild-crafted, organic ingredients whenever possible and utilize full spectrum, 10:1 extracts for maximum clinical efficacy.
Available in bottles of 90 500mg capsules.
Formula Principles:
• Warm the center, build Spleen qi and transform cold damp with food-grade herbs (especially suitable for individuals with damp/phlegm constitutions who do not respond well to ginseng and other overly tonic herbs)
• Remove “Five Accumulations” (wuji) that easily build up in the earth layer of the body: qi, Blood, damp, phlegm, and food
• Dispel wind and guard against wind invasion, especially in elderly patients or individuals with cold/deficient constitutions (during the Song and Ming dynasties, Wuji San used to be the primary remedy for influenza)
• Restore the up/down dynamics of the middle burner, eliminate food stagnation, relieve digestive discomfort and abdominal gas/bloating (ancient precursor of popular digestive patents such as Huoxiang Zhengqi San or Pill Curing)
• Dry chronic dampness and transform cold phlegm; expel excess water weight in overweight individuals
• Expel all types of chronic wind damp afflicting the taiyin networks (Spleen and Lung), including bi syndrome in the arms, shoulders, and lower back
General support: acute, chronic, digestive, metabolic, Gu Syndrome, immune, mental-emotional, women’s health
Formula family: overall warming, warming and moving with cinnamon; warming and consolidating with food grade herbs
Organ systems: Stomach, Spleen, Lung, Small Intestine
Six Stages: Taiyin
Directions: Take 3 capsules twice daily or as instructed by your healthcare practitioner (adjust dosage for children according to age and size).
