Sweet, Neutral and enters the Large Intestine, Lung and Stomach. This herb is non-toxic and does not harm the Stomach Qi. It also has a slight laxative effect. These qualities make it an important anthelmintic.

This herb is gentle and non-toxic, making it safe for the Stomach Qi. It also has a mild laxative effect, which enhances its role as an anthelmintic. Notably, it alleviates pain while eliminating parasites.

For optimal effectiveness, the herb is best consumed alone after being dry-fried. It is particularly useful for targeting tapeworm proglottids, with a common method being the consumption of seven seeds daily for a week. To address hookworm infestations, a recommended approach is taking 30 to 40 seeds on an empty stomach each morning until the worms are expelled.

Both Fei Zi Shi and Fructus Quisqualis (Shi Jun Zi) share sweet flavors, are relatively non-toxic, and support intestinal lubrication through their fatty oil content. Importantly, they do not harm the Spleen while targeting parasites. However, their strengths differ:

  • Shi Jun Zi excels at expelling roundworms, moistening the Lungs, stopping coughs, tonifying the Spleen, and improving digestion. It is also effective for addressing childhood nutritional deficiencies.
  • Fei Zi is particularly effective against hookworms and pinworms, with additional benefits for Lung health and cough relief.

Dry-fried Torreya Seeds (Chao Fei Zi) enhance the Spleen's function, aid in resolving food stagnation, and provide support for childhood nutritional impairments, all while maintaining their efficacy in eliminating parasites.
