Enriches the Yin and nourishes the Kidneys: the foundational Six-Ingredient Rehmannia formula for Kidney and Liver Yin deficiency.
Liu Wei Di Huang Tang (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia Decoction) is the quintessential classical formula for enriching Kidney and Liver Yin. First recorded by Qian Yi in the Xiao Er Yao Zheng Zhi Jue, this elegant 6-herb formula is considered exemplary for its construction: three tonifying herbs paired with three draining herbs to supplement without causing stagnation.
- The three tonics (Shu Di Huang, Shan Zhu Yu, Shan Yao) are balanced by three drains (Ze Xie, Fu Ling, Mu Dan Pi) to enrich Yin without creating stagnation or excess Heat
- Traditionally used for soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees, dizziness, tinnitus, diminished hearing, night sweats, dry throat, hot palms and soles, and nocturnal emissions
- Serves as the base formula for numerous classical variations including Zhi Bai Di Huang Tang, Qi Ju Di Huang Tang, and Jin Kui Shen Qi Tang
- Use with caution in cases with significant indigestion, diarrhea due to Spleen deficiency, or a white greasy tongue coating
ActiveHerb Liu Wei Di Huang Tang Granules are produced as a 5:1 whole-formula co-extract. Among the most prescribed classical formulas in both Chinese and integrative medicine, this formula is well-tolerated for longer-term clinical use in chronic Yin deficiency.
