Sinew-soothing Soft Plaster #7

Spring Wind's soft plasters are traditional Chinese herbal formulas prepared in an organic sesame oil and beeswax base. They are spread onto gauze and applied directly to the affected area. Do not apply to broken skin.

Sinew-Soothing Soft Plaster #7 occupies a unique position in the Spring Wind plaster system: it is thermally neutral, making it the most broadly applicable formula in the line. While Plasters #5 and #6 are reserved for clearly cold presentations and Plaster #4 for clearly hot ones, Plaster #7 is appropriate when the condition is neither hot nor cold in character.

Clinical Applications

This formula is indicated for second-stage sinew damage - and some third-stage presentations - where stiffness and a persistent, aching quality of pain are the main symptoms, without pronounced heat or cold. Because it powerfully moves qi and blood and dispels wind and damp while remaining thermally balanced, it can also be used in cases where the thermal character of the condition is ambiguous or mixed. It is appropriate for lingering bruising, residual swelling, tendon and ligament stiffness, and aching that has settled into a chronic, unchanging pattern.

Moves qi and blood, soothes and relaxes sinew, dispels wind and damp, relieves stiffness and aching pain. Thermally neutral.

Application

Warm the plaster slightly to soften. Spread onto gauze and apply to the affected area. Secure with bandaging as needed. Change daily or as directed by the practitioner. Soft plasters will stain fabric. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not apply to broken skin.
