Xian He Cao Essential Oil, 5ml

The aroma of Xian He Cao essential oil begins with a grassy, earthy scent, quickly followed by a sharp bitterness that travels to the back of the throat. It then descends down the esophagus and larynx, passes through the chest and diaphragm, and reaches the gut. The oil appears dark green to nearly black and is opaque. Extracted using CO2, it has a rich and pourable consistency.

 Agrimonia pilosa is extensively distributed across temperate regions of China, thriving on hillsides, grasslands, forests, and field margins. It is a resilient and adaptable plant that tolerates diverse moisture levels. For medicinal purposes, the entire aerial part—comprising stems, leaves, and small yellow flowers—is harvested during summer to early autumn when its medicinal properties are at their peak, and then sun-dried.

The bitter nature of this herb accounts for both its astringent and detoxifying effects, yet it maintains a neutral temperature and is not harsh. In fact, Xian He Cao tonifies the Qi and Blood to aid recovery in chronic deficiency conditions, while also clearing heat, halting bleeding, reducing swelling, and eliminating various infections and parasites.

Xian He Cao essential oil can be used by practitioners to manage excessive bleeding from various causes. It may be combined with essential oils of Ce Bai Ye (Platycladi) and Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra). These blends can be diluted with witch hazel and applied to affected areas and relevant acupuncture points, such as Xi Cleft points.

If signs of Qi and Blood deficiency are present, Xian He Cao will add a binding, stabilizing dimension to other tonifying essential oils such as Ren Shen (Ginseng), Huang Qi (Astragalus), or Bai Zhu (Atractylodes) for Qi, and Gou Qi Zi (Lyceum Berry), Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis), or Carrot Seed for blood. Combining 10% essential oils with Ling Zhi Spore or Gou Qi Zi nutritional oil creates a highly nourishing and strengthening daily tonic.

Xian He Cao essential oil can be prepared as a paste or compress for treating sores, swellings, hemorrhoids, breast nodules, and abscesses. Practitioners may consider combining it with Pu Gong Ying (Taraxaci).
