Actions: Smoothes liver qi, cools liver heat, subdues yang, releases excess from the taiyang, shaoyang and yangming, transforms phlegm, tonifies qi.
Pattern: Liver Qi excess with rising yang.Problems in all three of the Yang-stages of diseases resulting from an improper use of purgatives which are used before the disease enters the Yang brightness stage. The externally-contracted pathogenic influence takes advantage of the weakness caused by the purgatives and invades the Interior.
Chinese Symptomology: Fullness in the chest, irritability with occasional attacks of palpitations, urinary difficulty, constipation, delirious speech, inability to rotate the trunk.
Contraindications: Prohibited during pregnancy. Can cause digestive upset. Use with caution for those with Spleen and Stomach Deficiencies.
