The leaves, when chewed, interfere with the ability to taste sweetness. First century texts from A.D. have noted that Gymnema successfully “destroyed” excess sugar in the body, which is now commonly recognized as Diabetes. In India, Gymnema has been used to treat blood sugar imbalance for over 2,000 years. While supporting healthy blood sugar, it is also used for efficient energy metabolism, to support healthy urinary support, as a stomachic for digestive support, kidney support, and as a general antioxidant.
