This formula tonifies Kidney-Yang, nourishing Blood and tonifying and raising Qi. Thus, there are symptoms of Kidney-Yang deficiency, Blood deficiency and Qi deficiency.

This formula is based a number of herbs which, apart from having the above actions, also calm the foetus. These are:

  • Tu Si Zi
  • Xu Duan
  • Du Zhong
  • Sha Ren and
  • Huang Qin

Note this formula is not aimed at preventing a miscarriage in a pregnant woman, but at correcting the spiritual conditions that might lead to miscarriage in a woman with a history of miscarriages, before she becomes pregnant.

  • Tu Si Zi, Xu Duan, Ba Ji Tian and Du Zhong tonify Kidney-Yang
  • Dang Gui Shen Dong, Shu Di Huang and Gou Qi Zi nourish Blood
  • Ren Shen, Bai Zhu and Shan Yao tonify Qi
