Calms, nourishes, and stabilizes Spirit (Shen), nourishes Heart Blood, and tonifies Heart Qi.
This traditional formula applies to someone with potential for friendliness, humility, charm, and clarity. However, they often exhibit frivolousness, envy, vanity, forgetfulness, and confusion. This preparation focuses on the Fire element’s power, which is clear and assertive, bringing illumination to both the outer environment and the inner world.
The Compassionate Sage engages with the uniquely human aspect of our existence, which relates to what the Chinese refer to as Shen or Spirit. This Spirit is characterized by outgoingness, progress, and a connection to life; it centers us and enables outreach. It fosters affinity and clarity, but when it is not nourished properly, we can become scattered and lose our sensitivity. Ancient Chinese texts describe the Fire organ’s governing style as enlightened and compassionate. Compassionate Sage fosters deep empathy and lucidity in our perception of ourselves and the universe, helping us embrace both the cosmos and our inner selves with compassion.
PHYSICAL INDICATIONS
Compassionate Sage is a crucial remedy for occasional insomnia. According to Chinese medicine, the Heart stores the Spirit (Shen). When the Spirit is well-preserved, sleep remains restorative; when it is not, sleep may be restless or disturbed by unsettling dreams. Whether difficulty falling asleep, night wakings, or early awakening occurs, Compassionate Sage can help strengthen and soothe the Spirit. It is also an effective choice when the heart irregularly beats or experiences palpitations. Additionally, sweating due to anxiety or environmental discomfort is another indication for this formula.
