Gua Lou Xie Bai Ban Xia Tang

Gua Lou Xie Bai Ban Xia Tang (Trichosanthes, Chinese Chive, and Pinellia Decoction) is a classical formula from Zhang Zhong-jing's Jin Gui Yao Lue (Essentials from the Golden Cabinet). It is the primary formula for chest bi (xiong bi) syndrome when phlegm-turbidity is the predominant pathology obstructing the chest yang. The formula expands on Gua Lou Xie Bai Bai Jiu Tang with the addition of Ban Xia to address more significant phlegm accumulation.
