White Pine Needle
Song Jie is the wood knot (or node) of the Chinese red pine, praised for its medicinal value, which is native to northern China, Inner Mongolia and northern Korea. The best quality knots are reddish brown with high oil content. Song Jie essential oil is steam-distilled and exhibits a fresh pine resin aroma. When applied topically it releases the nodes’ traditional energy intended to ease painful Bi syndromes. Used in aromatherapy, especially when diffused, Song Jie brings the added benefit of its lung/ kidney affinity to help descend the Lung Qi to the kidneys. And like all essential oils it is easy to use, fast acting and cost effective.
Common Uses
* Used for Wind-Damp Bi with joint pain and soreness (primarily when Dampness or Cold predominate), Wind-Cold Bi, and traumatic injuries.
* Wei Syndrome, and strengthen tendons and muscles
* As a liniment with Du Huo and Dang Gui for fixed, deep pain in the joints or with Ru Xiang and Jiang Xiang for pain from traumatic injuries.
Dilution: 8% to 10%
Major known chemical constituents: Monoterpenes (pinene ~60-70%)
