Xuanfu Yiguan Jian
The formulation of Classical Pearls Counterflow Pearls is inspired by the classical remedy Xuanfu Daizhe Tang (Inula and Hematite Decoction), which was first recorded in Zhang Zhongjing's 2nd-century text, Treatise on Disorders Caused by Cold (Shanghan lun). Similar to its well-known counterpart, Banxia Xiexin Tang, this remedy helps restore the counterflow of Stomach qi. Inula flower, with its strong affinity for the Heart—described in the ancient text The Decoction Classic (Tangye jing) as “fire within fire”—is particularly effective in addressing the unique connection between the Heart and Stomach. In cases of chronic Stomach qi reversal, this relationship can lead to more severe pathologies. The inclusion of more modern formulas like Yiguan Jian (Linking Decoction) and Danshen Yin (Salvia Drink) further enhances its efficacy for individuals experiencing pain in the chest or solar plexus. Overall, this combination of herbs is one of the more moisturizing formulas in the Classical Pearl series, offering support for a wide range of conditions that require yin tonification in the Stomach, Lung, Heart, and Liver networks.
