Da Chai Hu Tang (Major Bupleurum Decoction) is a classical formula from Zhang Zhong-Jing’s Shang Han Lun. It is classified among formulas that simultaneously release the exterior and purge the interior, designed to address concurrent Lesser Yang (Shao Yang) and Yang Brightness (Yang Ming) stage disorders. The formula combines key elements of Xiao Chai Hu Tang with Da Huang and Zhi Shi to harmonize the Lesser Yang while also draining internal heat accumulation.
