Liquidambar formosana primarily grows in the woodlands of the warm temperate regions of Southern China. While rare in cultivation, in its native habitat, the wood is used for making tea chests, and the leaves are fed to silkworms. The resin has medicinal applications. The resin used for this Feng Xiang essential oil is sourced from trees in Guangxi Province.

Feng Xiang’s primary chemical constituent, the sesquiterpene Beta-caryophyllene, exhibits strong analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.
