Minor Bupleurum Formula: harmonizes the Shaoyang stage and resolves half-exterior, half-interior disorders.
Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) is one of the most famous and widely applied formulas in the Chinese medicine tradition, first recorded in the Shang Han Lun by Zhang Zhong-jing. It is the definitive formula for Shaoyang stage disorders, a pattern characterized by the presence of pathogenic factors lodged midway between the exterior and interior, affecting the Triple Warmer and Gallbladder channels.
- Harmonizes the Shaoyang stage and resolves the half-exterior, half-interior condition, addressing alternating chills and fever, chest and rib-side fullness, bitter taste, reduced appetite, and nausea
- Chai Hu and Huang Qin form the primary pair: Chai Hu releases the exterior and uplifts Yang, while Huang Qin clears interior Heat; together they address the half-interior, half-exterior position
- Applicable in a wide range of inflammatory and infectious conditions conforming to a Shaoyang pattern, including biliary tract conditions, hepatitis, chronic gastritis, and respiratory infections
- Prepared as a 5:1 concentrated extract granule for reliable clinical dispensing
ActiveHerb Xiao Chai Hu Tang Granules are produced via whole-formula co-extraction. This formula is among the most studied in all of Chinese medicine and serves as the basis for many important modifications including Da Chai Hu Tang and Chai Hu Shu Gan San.
