Xiao Jian Zhong Tang is a classical TCM formula that warms and tonifies the middle burner and moderates spasmodic abdominal pain.


Xiao Jian Zhong Tang, translated as Minor Construct the Middle Decoction, is a classical TCM formula from the Shang Han Lun. It is the primary formula in TCM for warming and rebuilding a cold, deficient middle burner with spasmodic abdominal pain, using the sweet-sour combination of maltose and white peony to relax spasm and nourish the interior.
